In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement.
Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers. We finish with a delightful savasana practice.
Beginners welcome

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1995 and became interested in pilates whilst doing a post graduate muscle balance course. At this time I discovered that pilates is a fantastic way to work with the body to improve muscle control, flexibility and posture. This led me to studying with STOTT PILATES® and qualified to teach matwork in 1999.
I am also certified to teach on the major pilates equipment and run a small, boutique studio using the reformer, tower and chair. Matwork classes at Horn Hill Village Hall are a fun and friendly way to build strength and flexibility with control. Please contact me for more information.
African Dancercise

Now in its 11th year at Horn Hill, African Dancercise is a fitness class where you will learn traditional West African choreography, dancing to live African Drumming. Moving to live music is very motivating and uplifting so everyone leaves the class with a smile on their face. Fantastic exercise for the body and mind, you can dance to the energy level that suits you.
Jean, who runs the class says, "If you can move you can dance and African Dance could be something you really enjoy while building up your fitness and flexibility, while exercising your mind at the same time."
Each half term we work on a new dance, learning its origins and the occasions when West African villages would be dancing to that rhythm. African Dancercise certainly brings something different and vibrant to Horn Hill. If you fancy trying something new in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, then we'd love to see you there. Your first class is free ... come and try it!
